I’m Brittney. I’ve been dabbling in writing since 11th grade, when my English teacher gave us an assignment to write a poetry book. In college, I took a poetry class, which only served to deepen my love of poetry. My writing only evolved through college, the one stint in graduate school, and the second (successful) try at graduate school. The professors were so enamored by my writing that they went out of their way to find things wrong with my papers.
I started the first first draft of one of my current novels several years ago. I revised it more times than I can count. The last revision is the book I’m currently working on. It’s about a detective in Birmingham who comes up against some serious adversity.
In August 2014, I was diagnosed with MS. This has certainly made writing difficult and I am constantly having to edit what I write. Sometimes I don’t even finish writing down my thoughts.
At NaNoWriMo 2015, I started a book that branched off from the previous book. I had it almost completely finished when I started writing on my first book again, at NaNoWriMo 2016. That’s when things got a bit sticky. The MC in Book 1 fell in love with a character in Book 2. Only problem was this character was already written. So, seeing as I wrote her into Book 1 after solidly writing her in Book 2, I had to rewrite her. And that is where we stand now with that.
My mom has been telling me for a while now that I should write a children’s book about our dogs, Jazz and Stella. I finally got around to do doing that. Now, I just have to finish it and send an inquiry to a publisher (or an agent, who knows).
